Our world is in a period of great change. We are experiencing global warming at a rate never seen before. The change is in redirecting our energy sources that will hopefully reverse this trend. Our fossil fuel supplies are slowly being depleted and likewise gradually being augmented with pollution free energy sources that do not need replacement.
The technologies involved in renewable energy resources have advanced greatly in recent
years and have now become part of individual nation energy policies.
Adoption and greater use of wind turbines has been much more prominent in recent
years with the great advances in Wind turbine technology. Photovoltaics is also making
great strides in their Solar Panel conversion efficiencies. Solar Thermal direct electricity
generation seems to hold the greatest promise for the present. Combining these pollution
free energy sources, it is hoped to make a big dent in our fossil fuel environmental
pollution issues in the near future.
Even Now… We Are Beginning To See Some Of The Effects Of These Changes
========================================================================
With manufacturing efficiencies rising in most sectors of our industry, energy
costs are also rising, negating much of these gains, producing net gain adjustments in the
final costs of producing a product. As our fossil fuels become less and less available,
renewable energy sources will have to increase in order to replace them along with our
increased needs. We are seeing greater investments in renewable energy projects as we
enter 2006, mainly because of the Renewable Energy tax incentives passed in late 2005.
The transition to these new energy sources is not without some reactions…from those who
live within ear shot of a windmill farm. Their “whirring” noise can sometimes be somewhat
annoying. Some “avian”(bird) losses are attributed to their encounters with the rotating
blades. Windmill farms require massive landscaped areas in their construction. Some land
value is also lost…usually permanently in the process. Even some of our most prominent
elected officials have voiced opposition to proposed Windmill Farms along our eastern
seaboard shores because they would obscure some of our beautiful scenic views. It seems the
only way to rebuke the naysayers and to convince them of the advantages of using Windmill
Renewable energy…is for one to respond…”maybe when you turn away from the less than
beautiful scenery produced by the offshore Windfarm, your lights will still be on as you
enter your home.”
There will always be some who oppose change, but it is not as though the U.S. and the
rest of the world has a choice in the matter. The prime reason is not because Fossil Fuel
sources will run out tomorrow, but because…as they become less available because of
dwindling reserves or supplier disruption(for whatever reason), market prices will rise,
causing a ripple effect and promote a negative industry growth.

I am a longtime searcher of possible solutions to the problems
of the day.
Stem cells are primitive undifferentiated cells that have the capability to form any of the 220 different types of cells in the human body. The embryonic stem cell is found in the embryo and develops into various cells that make a baby. This single cell is capable of forming or specializing to form any kind of cell. During embryonic development the first cell quickly divides to form three embryonic layers namely, the ectoderm, the mesoderm, and the endoderm.
Embryonic stem cell research and the method of cloning led to the development of the famous cloned sheep, Dolly. Cloning essentially involves the duplication of biological material. This is done through a technique called somatic cell nuclear transfer. This method can create a clone as well as be used for producing an embryo from which cells called embryonic stem (ES) cells could be extracted. The advantage of embryonic stem cells is that they can be used to cure several fatal genetic diseases.
Embryonic stem cells possess two major characteristics that make them especially suited for cell therapy. Firstly, being extracted from a very new organism, these cells are at an early stage of development and can be more flexibly used to culture several different kinds of cells. Stem cells that have such a flexibility of development are referred to as pluripotent cells. Also, embryonic stem cells have the ability to remain undifferentiated for long and can divide indefinitely. This makes them self-renewable and they can be used for longer. If transplanted into a patient’s body, embryonic stem cells are capable of replenishing cells that have been destroyed by ailments like sickle cell anemia, thalesemia, and some forms of cancer.

INSPIRATIONAL COMMENTS:
“There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation. - Herbert Spencer”
Albert Einstein - “We are seeking for the simplest possible scheme of thought that will bind together the observed facts.”
“If we do not expect the unexpected, we will never find it.” - Heraclitus
“Human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.” - William James
“I feel that if we could be serious for an hour and really fathom, delve into ourselves as much as we can, we should be able to release, not through any action of will, a certain sense of energy that is awake all the time, which is beyond thought.” - Jiddhu Krishnamurti, Madras, 1961
Heraclitus: “… conceded the existence of an over-riding, all-encompassing unity, in which the apparently contradictory opposites are all linked to one another, in a single, regular, cohesive system of balanced, harmonious measure and just order.”
“Consciousness is a singular of which the plural is unknown. There is only one thing, and that which seems to be a plurality is merely a series of different aspects of this one thing, produced by a deception, the Indian maya, as in a gallery of mirrors.” - Erwin Schrdinger
I think this means that all the talk about anomalous or truthful science is a bunch of you know what from the ego of man. We are ‘connected’ and our real self is not our ego. I am also of the opinion that he sees something I think is the nature of reality about the personality that some insist continues in such things as past-life regressions. Yes, perhaps through limbo and obsessions some things stay in this materially focused frame of reference (I have performed exorcisms) but when we are reborn all those memories of other lives are memories of a collective oversoul not anything like an individual soul. Maya and samsara or the ‘busy-mind’ do indeed deceive as he says - and though a few will gain great insight into the plural they will still be far from totally informed. Thus we must be open to all possibilities.
“Inherent to wave mechanics are the mechanisms of wave superposition and parallel and non-linear information processing. And these mechanisms, which are also affected and regulated by the laws of thermodynamics, are responsible for information growth and the evolution of biological matter. Information begets information.” - Laurent from Gaithersburg, Maryland.
INTRODUCTION:
Our reason (philosophy), should concern our ’selves’ with the field of metaphysics. Metaphysics is the study of three entities: the ‘individual being’, the universe or what we call reality and what lies beyond the universe. Metaphysics is the study of how and why the ‘individual being’, the universe, and what lies beyond the universe interact with each other. Metaphysics is the study of whether or not all three, or for that matter if any of the three, exist. Metaphysics is the study of how and why the three interact, if in fact they do exist. Metaphysics is the pondering over the questions: Where are we? What are we? Why do we exist? It could be argued that Descartes was one of its more prominent figures with his initiation of the concept of ‘knowing’, of existing, when he said ‘Cogito, ergo sum’ (I think, therefore I am). Or, as Popeye said “I yam wut I Yam”.
There are many people who are secure in the knowledge that all is right with the world and they feel good about how they personally think about themselves and their soul. I confess I have a lot of confidence but I am not so certain about what the human experience really entails. I see so much more all the time. The opening of each door seems to lead to there being more doors and more books to write therefore. The people who are sure of god being in heaven or those who have bought the ‘world of seems to be’ may not like this honest expression of what might be real; but they should know that most of the physicists sense there is a lot more than even they know. I love the quantum physicists for all the wondrous soulful things they seem to be able to explain better than me in so many ways. I can hope that a few readers will be those who do not believe in the soul and that after reading this they will be less certain but I do not encourage belief or the closure of possibilities it brings. There are many ways that illusions of separation cause transient errors made by the ego or the persona (Greek for mask) worn by actors during a momentary diversion called life.
In fact I do not think of the soul as continuing beyond this event horizon or material body with anything that ego or personality contains although I do think some of the elemental energy in a limbo state can impact on these reported re-incarnations with something like that until the person grows or harmonizes enough to move on. Religious I am not, for certain; mystic I can be at times I suppose; but mostly I observe like the alchemists who developed the scientific method.
A neuroscience forum which I was invited to has had many people respond to various postings without identifying themselves. I think some of that is because they have a reputation to protect or job they value. Here is one such response to a thread I started.
“Science is reductionist whereas mysticism is broadly integrative. It would seem that science and mysticism occupy anti-podal positions. They are both concerned with truth, yet go about it differently. Science seeks to objectively and mathematically describe truth, whereas mysticism seeks to experience truth. Science and mysticism are flip sides of the same coin. The greatest scientists have invariantly been deeply mystical. I’m tempted to say that the greatest mystics have invariantly been deeply scientific, or at least had an appreciation for science, but this I’m less certain of.”
I responded by saying I agreed and that I was certain the sages or greatest scientists were indeed very spiritual. One of those sages is David Bohm (Whose Holographic Universe has many adherents at the Yerkes Primate Center where hard physiological proofs are found.) and here is a little of how he approached physics.
“In an interview in 1989 at the Nils Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, where Bohm presented his views, Bohm spoke on his theory of wholeness and the implicate order. The conversation centered around a new worldview that is developing in part of the Western world, one that places more focus on wholeness and process than analysis of separate parts. Bohm explained the basics of the theory of relativity and its more revolutionary offspring, quantum theory. Either theory, if carried out to its extreme, violates every concept on which we base our understanding of reality. Both challenge our notions of our world and ourselves.
He cited evidence from both theories that support a new paradigm of a more interrelated, fluid, and less absolute basis of existence, one in which mind is an active participant. ‘Information contributes fundamentally to the qualities of substance.’ He discussed forms, fields, superconductivity, wave function and electron behavior. ‘Wave function, which operates through form, is closer to life and mind… The electron has a mindlike quality.’” (1)
The early quantum physicists like Neils Bohr were ridiculed by those who could not comprehend the majesty of their attempts to explain our reality. The debunker’s inductive reasoning which imposes direct inferential theory upon nature has caused a setback that science has yet to overcome. Despite their stated fear of religion these theories are in fact doing what the Dark Ages did to sincere seekers of truth. It was the dawning of a New Age which revived ancient Chaos Science. Our whole computerized creative and productive world is largely a function of these ‘atom mysticists’. In response to that epithet they have driven the message home by showing over and over again that most know-nothing scientists are in cahoots with ignorance or worse. Michio Kaku of Hyperspace does it well.
These giants of intellect found the soul of the Mandukya Upanishads (Wigner) and the S-Matrix math in the Tao Te Ching (Capra). Heisenberg ‘observed’ as the cat appeared, or did not, depending on whether Schrdinger was there to witness. All Zen aficionados were overjoyed to see the Western predilection for linear thinking in boxes was being changed from within. A far greater amount of possibility-thinking and real independent inquiry has resulted. All theatres of thought are now called post-Modern by ‘experts’ in ivory towers who are usually wrong. Bohr said, ‘A great truth has an opposite which is also true. A trivial truth has an opposite which is false.’
The Club of Rome is doing a lot of good analysis of issues and the need for multi-disciplinarian principles in a new technological era. Here is something they say which I heartily approve of.
“Systems of education are less and less adapted to the new issues, to the new emerging global society we are presently involved in. New priorities force us to redefine the role of education, which should be conceived as a permanent learning process. Transmission of knowledge is no longer sufficient, and new objectives such as developing one’s own potential and creativity, or the capacity of adaptation to change are becoming essential in a rapidly changing world.
The Club of Rome considers that education is both part of the global problematique and also an essential tool to become an effective actor in control of one’s own life and within society. If there are “Limits to Growth”, there are “No Limits to Learning” (titles of two Reports to the Club of Rome).” (2)
In the area of physics the Classical Electromagnetic Model or particles and force constructs, have given way to wave behavior models that allow harmonic interaction and affinity across space-time as I see it. There are some people who have such an ingrained or visceral response to mystical concepts that it makes one wonder how effective our propaganda paradigm that has waged war on enablement of the soul in each living thing has been. The space-time interval is only invariant in same frequency realms and astrophysicists know gravity is an instantaneous effect. Brian Greene is the first physicist with ‘groupies’ according to George Stephanopoulos, one time Clinton Press Secretary. Greene wrote the ELEGANT UNIVERSE a best-seller that explains String Theory and how it could answer some of the deepest aspects of human experience. He made a major contribution in 1992 that showed how the fabric of space could tear and repair itself. This is not possible according to relativity and its expression of the space/time continuum. The existence of anti-matter and ‘black holes’ are quite a conundrum for science that finds itself proving the mystics understandings - ‘fast and furious’.
My premise at its worst is that we must understand the mystics even if they are wrong about reality. There will be little achieved by constantly negating whatever reality they have been able to ’see’ and there has been a lot of advancement in science that proves they were right. But when told that this line of reasoning is religious or ‘airy-fairy’ I can only say - if we do not know how the sages or great minds saw reality how can we expect to help make a new reality that is better? How can you call Pythagoras weird (for example) when he contributed so much? How can people be so silly when they know they can’t do what he did? Is it ego that makes man so closed-minded? Here is a response to a physicist who sees (finally) that I have gathered the words of the top scientists, who agree with me. He seeks to rationalize the ‘One’ and understand the ego - which is a start at least.
Rational? Is that missing from the work of philosophers like Sartre who said ‘Love is absent space’. No - what is missing is an appeal to reductive and gradualistic paradigm ego or the need for POWER above all else. But that need for power actually produces less power and plentitude.
I tell you this - you do not know consciousness or it’s origin and you can find the best explanations in ancient writings and disciplines like the Sutras. It works!
Is what works rational? Not necessarily. Rational and religion or the anthropomorphing urge of ego is everywhere evident in non-cooperative mindsets.
Here is the way I could say it off the top of my head.
In the beginning there was energy in many dimensions. These dimensions gradually got in touch at some distance with information carried on attractive forces like gravity. These contacts grew and pathways formed - see my article called Affinity under those Google links or here. The pathways became lattices and vectors and valences of these energies which began to design ways to form new harmonizing potentials.
Laws of behavior and some kind of design began to actualize or manifest and over trillions of years a lot of knowledge and ways of creating became the way of the world or universes.
Consciousness came later and the soul is an outgrowth of this collective which directs us through the structures and lattices (helical and otherwise - time has a helical structure and seven layers too) in the likes of DNA.

As PC’s get smaller and notebook computers get faster the line between them is beginning to get blurred unless you take a look at the extreme sides of the spectrum. Desktop PC’s are getting streamlined and thin and notebooks, particularly for gaming and desktop replacements are getting bigger and more powerful. I think its getting to the point where the performance of laptop computers is able to match desktops. The price difference is also not as big as it used to be either. Notebook PC’s have declined considerably in price and this makes them a more attractive option as they have the added bonus of being wire free and mobile. No need to keep them stationed in any particular place as with desktops that’s for sure. There is also a level of personal ownership with laptops as they are not usually something shared with others. Desktop PC’s often tend to be household purchases for all members of ahousehold.
The graphics processor is one of the most crucial things to consider when purchasing a gaming laptop. Two choices exist in this realm. Nvidia or ATi? ATi were left trailing once AMD had takeover them and this has allowed Nvidia to be the current market leader. This technology is changing every single year and Nvidia seem to have the edge.
When purchasing a gaming laptop the processor, ram and video chip are the most important parts one should consider. The processor should be a dual core processor like the intel core duo with a speed of over 2GHz as standard. Minimum requirements for ram are 2GB if running Windows Vista but more is recommended. To play games you need to have a dedicated graphics card. 256MB is the minimum dedicated graphics memory to look for. A mid to high end card should play all current and future games without any problems. For hardcore gaming players get only the top of the range gpu’s.
The future for gaming laptops seems good with nvidia set to release the geforce 9 series and ati getting back into the frey in a big way to increase its market share. With processors getting smaller, more efficient and cooler, ddr3 graphics and system ram dropping in price and all other things centrino 2 brings the following year looks set to be a big one for gamers and their portables.
Upgrading RAM
We have understood by now, that more memory will enable your computer to work faster. How much memory you need is really a factor of the nature of work that you do on you computer. Two factors are worth considering: the first, that if your computer does not have enough memory, it will run slowly. Conversely, if you computer already has enough memory, then adding more will not necessary enhance performance. In this case, your microprocessor or graphics may be slowing your computer down. Hence, do consider these factors and use common sense while upgrading. That said, since memory chips have become a lot cheaper, it makes sense to install a little more than you anticipate you will need. If you do not have a large enough budget, then of course there is the option of upgrading later.
Upgrading your microprocessor
A faster microprocessor means a faster computer, given that the other components (memory, graphics card etc) are up to date. First you need to assess whether it is really your microprocessor that is slowing down your computer. It may be that you have a good microprocessor but a slow graphics card or insufficient memory. On the hand, if your microprocessor is slow, and your other computer components are relatively efficient, then it would make sense to upgrade the microprocessor. The idea is to achieve a balanced
PC in which all the components are relatively equivalent in terms of performance. If you just want more speed, and all your other important components are up to date, then a microprocessor upgrade would well do the job.
Upgrading your graphics card
If you are playing hi-tech games and finding that the animation is slow, then your graphics card probably needs to be upgraded. Upgrading the graphics card in such a situation would certainly enhance the speed of your computer. If you work a lot with images and find that it takes time to update, then also the graphics card could do with an upgrade. However, if your word processing or spreadsheet functions have slowed, then your graphics card is not the culprit and upgrading it will not help.
Upgrading your hard drive
When most of your hard disk space has been used up, then it would be wise to upgrade your hard drive. But there is another option - you might consider getting a CD burner instead. This way, you could store a lot of the data that you don’t often use on CDs and free that much space on the hard drive. However, upgrading the hard drive in such situation may be the wiser thing to do.
Speed is another consideration for hard drive upgrades. The new hard drives available today are faster than the older ones.
Upgrading your motherboard
Quite a lot of work goes into upgrading the motherboard. If you need more slots for more expansion cards or if you want a faster motherboard, then an upgrade would be needed. Consult with your retailer about whether or not installing a new motherboard with a faster bus would be useful for you.

Recently a Christian and an Atheist were bantering back and forth at a local Starbucks and their debate about creationism was becoming louder and louder and quite heated over the Jazz Type elevator music in the coffee shop. On one hand the atheist claimed that the Christian’s fanatical psychotic invisible friend behavior was causing him to live his life in such a way that he was not accomplishing anything worthy of mention and that his life would soon be over and he would merely die a worthless old man with little if anything to show for his labors during his life experience. All this while the Christian claimed that the atheist had no moral judgment as he had no base line or any code of conduct to live by. The debate was getting to the point that it appeared that swear words we going to be issued to the atheist via his Christian rival and probably something to the affect; “…Burn in hell” salutation upon departure.
Luckily I was listening to all this meaningless sound and fury and actually laughing inside. I noticed they both had iPods with those earbud things draped around their necks. Seeing this commonality, I thought I would have the last laugh. So I said;
“Oh, by the way, there is no god. iPod is god; play with the letters a bit you will see. You humans just don’t get it do you? It is all right in front of you, but you are blinded by your own fog of war; sound and fury to confuse and control the masses and you know what; you deserve it.”
They both did a double take of their iPods and I stuck my iPod’s earbuds into my ears and walked out singing and having a nice rest of my day, knowing by the look on their faces that I took the wind right out of both of their sails. Maybe iPod really is god? There is a lot of vibrational energy going on with all those sound waves and gigabytes of songs. Think on this in 2006.

xMax is a recent innovation conceived by Florida-based xG
Technology LLC. It piggybacks on radio signals to transmit
wireless broadband data over long distances.
Although it is not yet widely available, xMax will (in theory)
be much cheaper and more effective than WiMAX, and
potentially bring wireless broadband internet access to less
densely populated areas.
How Reliable are Cell Phones?
Cellular phones and pagers are part of the “now” generation, instant contact, anywhere at any time. People are looking for convenience, comfort and security. The question is how instantaneous and reliable is the contact?
Talking with someone is the main use for a cell phone, yet due to poor reception how often do calls not go through, or important calls “dropped” due to flaky coverage? Let us not forget, that in a time of tragedy, lines were congested and the resounding “all circuits busy” messages were heard from coast to coast. There is certainly room for improvement if you want to reach out and touch someone.
The alternative to voice communication is traditional text messaging, enjoyed by the young as SMS, a ‘hip’ communication method, and the older as the tried and true paging, a trustworthy means of communication. A carrier receives pages or text messages via a traditional dial up modem or Internet connection to their terminal, and then broadcasts the messages over their network to the appropriate wireless device. How instant is sending a text message? The answer might surprise you…it depends.
Traditional means of sending text messages is surprisingly reliable and fast. However, many cellular carriers, wishing to merge technologies while keeping costs down, have opted to utilize email technology to send text messages. Why not, an email is nothing more than a text message, using the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). On the surface this sounds like a great idea, nearly everyone has email access, and the use of the Internet streamlines the sending of messages.
What is often overlooked, is the fact that email was not designed to be time sensitive. There can be significant delays and an instantaneous receipt can be lost when sending email to a pager or cell phone. Text messages sent via the email protocol SMTP could take a more scenic delivery route. While in many cases, receiving messages in a timely fashion is not critical; some industries require and benefit from the receipt of urgent messages. It is therefore important to realize and make a distinction between the protocols that are designed for instantaneous communication and those that are not.
If sending messages immediately to a cell phone or pager is required, more reliable protocols are available. When sending text messages, via a modem, the Telocator Alphanumeric Protocol (TAP) is extremely dependable, albeit slower due to the modem dialing. If sending messages with a high-speed Internet connection use the newer time sensitive Internet protocols: Simple Network Paging Protocol (SNPP) and Wireless Communication Transfer Protocol (WCTP). If your carrier supports these protocols they are the better options for sending important messages.
If carriers understand the “now” generation is about speed and reliability, customer satisfaction will improve. Text messaging is a reliable and useful communication method, especially since voice is not always convenient or possible. With public awareness and urging, carriers will increase their offerings of text messaging protocols. Carriers should offer email or SMTP, but they must also support time sensitive protocols, regardless, of whether the protocols are older such as TAP or newer such as WCTP.
