Harness The Power Of Words In Your Life

Posted by admin on June 7, 2008 in Self Improvement Stuff

Speaking comes to most people as naturally as breathing. On many occasions our words are uttered without conscious thought; in fact we rarely stop and think about what we are saying. Thousands of words pour out of our mouths each day as our thoughts, opinions, judgements and beliefs are freely expressed. Often, however, we are oblivious to the positive or negative effect these words have on ourselves and the people around us.

Words have tremendous power. Words give out energy and a message which creates a reaction in others. Everything you say produces an effect in the world. Whatever you say to someone else will produce some kind of an effect in that person. We are constantly creating something, either positive or negative with our words.
Reaction to our words often returns to us often in a multiplied form. For example if I speak words of judgement to a person they will judge me back, probably with more intensity as their judgement has the pain or anger caused by my words attached to it Words of kindness and acceptance will generate a warm and appreciative reaction in a person. That person’s response to the words will be stronger because it will have the emotion created by the words attached to it. The power of words has a ripple effect in our life and those around us.

Recently I came across the work of Dr Emoto, and his studies on water crystals. He took samples of water, froze them and took photographs of the water crystals. He then wrote words on vials of water taken from the same source. The crystals formed in the vials which had positive words, such as love and gratitude, were beautiful. However the crystals in the vials with negative words such as hate and evil were very different, and the water didn’t even form crystals in some instances. Experiments were done using words from different languages, and also by the scientists having no knowledge of what the words meant. The results were similar. More information can be found at http://www.whatthebleep.com/crystals or by watching the movie “What The Bleep Do We Know”. Although I find the concepts of quantum physics difficult to grasp, the findings of this study on water crystals has had a profound impact on me. The human body is known to be composed of up to ninety percent water. If words had such a significant impact on water crystals, then what is the impact of positive and negative words to our bodies?

An important key to success in life is to understand the power of words. A word is a thought eternalized. Our thoughts do have a great effect on us even though they are internal. What we think effects the way we live our life, it effects our emotions, our attitudes and our behaviour. A thought spoken, however, has even more power. It can never be taken back; it is out of our mouth and will have an effect. Our words have even more power than our thoughts because they not only affect ourselves, but the people and the world around us.

Successful people take control of their words, rather than letting their words control them. They are more conscious of their thoughts and words and the power they unleash. Successful people understand that they need to speak positively rather than negatively in order to see success. Successful people are characterized by the words that they speak. They know the importance of speaking words that will build self-esteem and confidence, build relationships and build possibilities. They speak words of affirmation, encouragement, love, acceptance and appreciation.

To see more personal success, the words that we speak need to be in alignment with what we want to see being produced in our life - our vision and our dreams. Your words can determine your destiny. Even more importantly, your words can make a positive difference on the people you interact with every day. Before you speak ask yourself: Is what I am about to say going to uplift the hearer? Will it inspire, motivate, and create forward momentum for them? Will it dissolve fear and create safety and trust? Will I create a positive or negative ripple effect by speaking out these words? Let’s be determined to unleash the power of words for positive change.

Your Most Important Opportunity says a top UK Personal Development Coach

Posted by admin on May 19, 2008 in Self Improvement Stuff

For some people this article will turn out to be one of the most important things they’ve ever read.

I say this because some people are ready to get to grips with life.
In the next year some people will put their lives on the map. They’ll know clearly what they intend to have happen and, more importantly, why.

Do you want to be part of the crowd making the switch to the dizzying heights of happiness - and when I talk about “happiness,” I’m talking about real “Happiness”? Do you want to feel good after a fulfilling day at work? Do you want to live a dream relationship? Do you want you to be building wonderful bonds with your children, easily, and taking the steps to reach your full potential as a human being?

If you do, the good news is this: change can be easy. Here is how…

First, stop ignoring your instincts: that slumping feeling or that feeling of nausea or the little voice in your head that says:

‘I want more out of life than I’m getting.’

Accept it as part of you and welcome that feeling. Is it telling you that you’re not being rewarded or is it saying you are not being fulfilled in work?

Or is the feeling hinting something else is not right - the relationship with your partner or your children?

When you listen to your instincts and accept that things are not right you put yourself back in the driving seat where you can recreate situations and get to grips with life.

When you ignore them, they return over and over again, often increasing in intensity until you have to deal with them.

Sooner or later you will have to deal with all the issues in life. Why wait until they get to the point of danger where you feel ill or you feel like your world is falling apart? Deal with them while the pressure is not too intense. Deal with them now.

If you leave it too late you won’t be in the best frame of mind and you’ll more than likely handle it poorly.

Your instinct is your greatest opportunity. It is there to help you navigate through life, like a rudder on a ship. The problem is all too often we ignore it and try to navigate using logic, which is more like snapping the rudder off and hoping for the best.

I don’t want my newsletter readers to be the envy of their friends and family. I want them to be the example! 212 Degrees

Posted by admin on May 6, 2008 in Self Improvement Stuff

At 211 degrees, water is pretty darn hot.

But at 212, it’s boiling, and making steam.

Only one degree, but there is quite a difference. While hot water is a nice thing when you are taking a shower, boiling water has a lot more potential. You can use it to cook, or to run a steam engine.

I bet you are wondering what my point is. The point is, one degree made that difference. One, just one.

Take a look at your life right now. No matter where you are, or how happy you are with it, there is always room for that extra degree. The one that takes your from hot to steaming!!

Take a look at the results that you are getting out of life. Sit down and really think about it. What ways can you add that extra degree, and “Kick it up a notch” as Emerill would say?

You could:

* Spend 10 minutes each day focused on one thing - anything you want it to be. In a fifteen years, you’ll be a bonafide expert!

* Spend the last hour before bed planning the next day. You’ll wake up with confidence and a game plan, important ingredients for a great day!

* Read one book each month that is aimed towards improving some skill or talent.

* Spend one hour each week studying up on your career field or industry.

* Enroll in a free online or live course. These can be found using Google, at local schools, libraries, etc. Not only will you improve yourself, you’ll also be able to meet other likeminded people to share your passion with!!

There are so many little things that you can do to improve your skills, and therefore improve your self. There are many things in life that we waste time on, professional and personal development are NOT some of them. Take some time to nurture your talents and your techniques.

Before you know it, you’ll be boiling!!!

The Undeniable Power of a Mastermind Group

Posted by admin on April 22, 2008 in Self Improvement Stuff

A Mastermind is a group of individuals who are joined in
purpose. All bringing their collective talents and
experiences to the achievement of a common goal.

When people join together in a combined effort an
extraordinary thing happens. A new mind is formed. It is
not the mind of one of the team members, it is a mind that
exists only as a result of all members coming together, an
additional mind, a group mind…

A Mastermind.

The Mastermind is greater than the sum of the minds of the
individuals in the group and from its efforts great things
can be accomplished. Each member contributing to the
Mastermind can receive benefit far greater than could
otherwise be generated from the same efforts if working by
themselves.

Nearly every great achievement or massive fortune in history
has been the product of a team of minds united in achieving
the same goal. The American Declaration of Independence was
the result of a Mastermind, so was man’s first powered
flight and the first man into space and eventually to the
moon.

Spend time on the Internet and you will begin to notice that
many of the very successful marketers work in a group of 2
more and many of the most successful products are the fruit
of a mastermind group. This is becoming such a universal
idea (first made popular by Napoleon Hill) that
occasionally you will read an invitation to partake in a
marketing group or program worded as an invitation to join
a mastermind group.

http://www.nitromarketing.com/g.o/greatsale,
originally created by Matt Gill and Kevin
Wilke is an excellent example of a mastermind group in
action. I have watched as these guys have grown and
continue to grow their Internet marketing empire to one of
the most profitable and innovative online today. They
embrace the mastermind principle to the point of actively
creating programs that bring new talent into their group.

Joint ventures are probably the most common kind of online
mastermind group where an arrangement is made between 2 or
more parties for mutual benefit. For instance, I may have a
product that would be of use to the people in your mailing
list. We put our minds together and come up with a way that
I can send my offer out to your list and we both make some
money or receive other benefits as a result.

In all walks of life and any endeavor the Mastermind is a
formidable force. If you have the opportunity, associate
yourself with like minded individuals and great things will
be made possible.

Aim High

Posted by admin on April 18, 2008 in Self Improvement Stuff

Everyone, at some point of his or her life, has dreamed of being
somebody special, somebody big. Who hasn’t fantasized about
being the one who hits the game-winning homer? Who hasn’t
dreamed of being the homecoming queen? And how many times have
we dreamed of being rich, or successful, or happy with our
relationships?

Often, we dream big dreams and have great aspirations.
Unfortunately, our dreams remain just that - dreams. And our
aspirations easily collect dust in our attic.

This is a sad turn of events in our life. Instead of
experiencing exciting adventures in self actualization, we get
caught up in the humdrum of living from day-to-day just barely
existing.

But you know what? Life could be so much better, if only we
learned to aim higher.

The most common problem to setting goals is the word impossible.
Most people get hung up thinking I can’t do this. It’s too hard.
It’s too impossible. No one can do this.

However, if everyone thought that, there would be no inventions,
no innovations, and no breakthroughs in human accomplishment.

Remember that scientists were baffled when they took a look at
the humble bumblebee. Theoretically, they said, it was
impossible for the bumblebee to fly. Unfortunately for the
bumble, bee no one has told it so. So fly it does.

On the other hand, some people suffer from dreaming totally
outrageous dreams and not acting on them. The result? Broken
dreams, and tattered aspirations.

If you limit yourself with self-doubt, and self-limiting
assumptions, you will never be able to break past what you deem
impossible. If you reach too far out into the sky without
working towards your goal, you will find yourself clinging on to
the impossible dream.

Try this exercise. Take a piece of paper and write down some
goals in your life. Under one header, list down things ‘you know
you can do’. Under another header, write the things ‘you might
be able to do.’ And under one more, list the things that that
are ‘impossible for you to do.’

Now look at all the headers strive every day to accomplish the
goals that are under things ‘you know you can do’. Check them
when you are able to accomplish them. As you slowly are able to
check all of your goals under that heading, try accomplishing
the goals under the other header-the one that reads ‘you might
be able to do.’

As of the items you wrote under things I could do are
accomplished, you can move the goals that are under things that
are ‘impossible for you to do’ to the list of things ‘you might
be able to do.’

As you iterate through this process, you will find out that the
goals you thought were impossible become easier to accomplish.
And the impossible begin to seem possible after all.

You see, the technique here is not to limit your imagination. It
is to aim high, and start working towards that goal little by
little. However, it also is unwise to set a goal that is truly
unrealistic.

Those who just dream towards a goal without working hard end up
disappointed and disillusioned.

On the other hand, if you told someone a hundred years ago that
it was possible for man to be on the moon, they would laugh at
you. If you had told them that you could send mail from here to
the other side of the world in a few seconds, they would say you
were out of your mind. But, through sheer desire and
perseverance, these impossible dreams are now realities.

Thomas Edison once said that genius is 1% inspiration and 99%
perspiration. Nothing could be truer. For one to accomplish his
or her dreams, there has to be had work and discipline. But take
note that that 1% has to be a think-big dream, and not some
easily accomplished one.

Ask any gym rat and he or she will tell you that there can be no
gains unless you are put out of your comfort zone. Remember the
saying, “No pain, no gain”? That is as true as it can be.

So dream on, friend! Don’t get caught up with your perceived
limitations. Think big and work hard to attain those dreams. As
you step up the ladder of progress, you will just about find out
that the impossible has just become a little bit more possible.

What the Heck Is Coaching Anyway?

Posted by admin on April 5, 2008 in Self Improvement Stuff

I know this may sound silly, but for the longest time I have been side-stepping writing an article about coaching. Why? Not because I am ashamed of coaching or embarrassed to say that I am a coach… quite to the contrary!!

Coaching is an amazing profession and I really love what I do. My reasoning…because I was fearful that an article would appear a “shameless plug” on a site that’s purpose is to support and motivate others.

Never did it occur to me that by sharing a bit about coaching it might actually also provide support and motivation. It was not until recently when I received an e-mail from a reader (asking what coaching is) that the light bulb went on and I realized how important it is to share…

Imagine having a safe and comfortable space to share your dreams, goals, thoughts, worries, and obstacles. Then imagine having someone focus solely on YOU; where you are in your life and where you wish to be…supporting YOU in finding the means to get from where you are to where you wish to be. Sound good?

Coaching Is…

- A process of personal growth and discovery
- A collaborative and supportive partnership that helps you to overcome obstacles and accomplish goals
- A confidential, honest, trusting, and safe relationship
- A catalyst in developing strategies for forward movement
- All about YOU and never about the coach

Coaching Is Not…

- Therapy
- Consulting

- Critical or judgmental

A Coach …

- Holds you accountable
- Listens to you fully
- Asks you powerful questions
- Empowers you to move forward
- Helps you knock down walls and remove any obstacles that are standing in your way.
- Develops a road map with you so that you can get from where you are to where you wish to be.

In my personal and humble opinion, coaching is amazing…not just as a process, but as a career. It has changed lives and it has certainly changed mine.
